Tessera
These drawings portray Brazilian plastic artist Candido Portinari (1903-1962).

Despite his several well-known paintings, few people know about Portinari's only mosaic. The work "Jesus entre os Doutores" was projected by him and, later, mounted by an authorized team. It now belongs to PUC Rio's church, where it is permanently exposed.

Studying the mosaic, I recreated Portinari's face in a way that it was put in dialogue with his work.

The name Tessera comes from the material used to compose the mosaic, and corresponds to its small pieces.

These illustrations were created for an augmented reality app icon. The app creates an experience above the original mosaic, telling the biblical story represented in it interactively.
